Just under 3 years ago, I made sure I was up to watch England take on New Zealand in the (Covid-delayed) World Cup final. Early in the game, England ominously lost a player to a red card, but they battled on and in the last moments of the game had a line-out 5 metres from New Zealand's try line. England had been mauling their way to tries all tournament, so the win looked on. But New Zealand stole the ball in the lineout, and that was that. I was gutted.

Yesterday, there was no doubt. England played their best rugby of the tournament and made sure Canada never got near the World Cup trophy. What a moment lifting the World Cup was for the team and England fans.
