

Round 2 of the league kicks off for Marple at home to Clitheroe. Following on from a great start to the season away at Bury last weekend and some strong work in training during the week Marple's hope were high heading into the fixture.
Marple starts yet another strong side and elects to receive the ball to start. A rocky kick off from the away side shocked Marple but was soon dropped on and cleaned up by the home side.
Marple ball in hand swiftly start to march towards the Clitheroe try line with great work from both the forwards and back of the home side that soon saw a mistake from the travelling side that gave Marple a line out deep in the Clitheroe half. A quick line out and the Marple pack came down and took Clitheroe for a walk to be stopped 1 yard shy of the line, Tighthead prop Dave Thornley saw the line and as the away side came up for a big charge from the prop Dave gentle placed the ball on the line and opened the scoring for the game.

Marple received the ball back and yes you guessed more pressure from the home side soon saw their game in the away side half and with a great set of hands Marple came knocking again with 20 Meter charge from the second row Liam David, he claims try number two of the game.
Parry Misses 12-0 Marple
The second try from Marple sparked life into the Clitheroe side and Marple soon saw a lot of pressure that pushed them back into their own half. This put the home side into panic stations and one mistake gave the away side a penalty which they opted to kick the game.

A close scare game Marple the shakeup they need, and they soon started to kick back at the away side, and they soon found quick ball out the backline and side with winger Adam Suppan breaking down the wing support by Will Milton we soon saw a quick offload to Will and then Dom Nunn who slipped through two tackles to see and score under the posts.

The second half soon started and saw more of the first half with Marple applying heavy pressure that soon saw a winger Will Milton break down the winger to score try number four of the game in the corner.

The away side still under relentless pressure from Marple struggled to find a foothold in the game and the home side capitalised on this. Marple’s 10 Adrian parry showed great skill with a short grubber in behind the defence to keep the scoreboard ticking over, and score Try number 5 of the game.

The game continued with more great work from both sides. Marple found themselves pushed back into their own half with a line out deep in the home sides half. However, a quick turn over at the line out the Marple backline broke out and fly-half Adrian Parry chipped over the top and chased down and another tap forward and gather up the ball only to be caught 5 meters short of the away sides line by a scrambling defence. A great Solo effort from the Marple Fly half.
Although the scrabbling defence of Clitheroe stopped the immediate danger it was only short-lived as the home side came knocking again and Liam David crashed over for this second try of the game and extended the Marple lead.

Marple in a commanding lead and full control of the game the home side found themselves camped in the Clitheroe 22. Strong defence from Clitheroe kept Marple out but soon a crack in the defence scrum was award. The Marple pack held their own in the scrum getting the good ball to number 9 realising the Marple backline. A quick blitz from the away side left space in behind for a short grubber from Marple’s fly-half and a chase from Marple’s skipper Kieren Malpus who dropped on the ball over the line to score try number 7 of the game and seal the game for Marple.

That’s not the end of the game though. Marple soon found themselves back in their own 22. A good turnover at the line out saw Marple win the ball back only to see the Clitheroe’s outside centre make a great read of the pass and intercept the ball to score Clitheroe’s first try of the game and the last of the game.
