Marple Storm to Victory with Thrilling 31–0 Performance!

Fresh off the back of two strong outings, Marple arrived brimming with confidence and ready for battle. The weather tried its best to dampen spirits with wind and rain, but both sides tore into the game with intensity. Early on, the forwards laid down a marker, trading powerful scrums and heavy collisions, yet handling remained sharp despite the greasy conditions.

The deadlock was broken after some slick work from a ruck, as the ball was spun wide to Harrison Maddocks who flew down the wing to score the opener. Dan Tylee calmly slotted the extras: Marple 7 – Littleborough 0.

Marple’s momentum built steadily, with both sides enjoying spells of possession, but it was pace that tipped the scales. Twice, the lightning-fast Olly Mills latched onto clever chip-and-chase plays, turning defence into devastating attack. With one of Tylee’s conversions finding the mark, Marple surged into a commanding 19–0 lead at the break. Littleborough thought they’d clawed one back, only to see their effort chalked off for a penalty infringement.

The second half brought fresh energy with several substitutions, including skipper James Chidgey stepping in to lead the charge. Marple struck again almost immediately—this time through Will Milton. The conversion unfortunately drifted wide, with the scoreline now sitting at 24–0.

Littleborough refused to roll over, mounting wave after wave of pressure, but Marple’s defence stood tall. Then came the killer blow: a turnover deep in their own half set debutant Ben Wainwright free. With sheer determination, he tore through defenders and sprinted over half the pitch to dive in for a sensational try. Ben capped off a dream first outing converting his own try. Final score: Marple 31 – Littleborough 0.
